about
After the dystopian pyjama-scape that was 2020, All This For Nothing are coming back to your playlist with their first single since their release of ‘Reverence’ in late 2019.
Having spent lockdown hard at work writing and creating demos, Pathology or Pantomime is the first of All This For Nothing’s new offerings. Having recently signed to Mongrel Records, the band will be bringing you a consistent rollout of music, merch and artwork over the next few months.
The first single ‘Pathology or Pantomime’ examines the tenuous relationship between internal struggle and outward expression. Exploring the notion of concealing mental health crises in a world where those suffering the most are often the quietest about their pain, the track speaks to what all of us have gone through in 2020, and the manner in which we’ve chosen to conceal or express it.
The single also heralds the return of long standing guitarist Mark Hinch.
lyrics
Blinking through black veils
Fighting for control
Whilst some use the few’s failures
To forge careless goals
You gather the light
And radiate
All you are
Your quest to ignite
Love in all
Spite your scars
Longing that you crave
Ego taking strain
Moulder in your hideaway
You feign psychic pain
Reflect on your mind
It’s easy to deny
Some of us won’t get the
Chance to reconcile
Some spend their whole lives
Seeking, serene mental paradigms
But oh to tell the difference
Pathology or Pantomime
Your quest to ignite
Love in all
Spite your scars
Careful how your words fall
On open scars
For some these black veils may
Resemble prison bars
