Existence 04:19
Beaten, broken, begging to fate - to reserve another hopeless day of slowly decaying, of slowly decaying. Counting the events, buried in his eyes. I try to imagine a life away from dreaming. All his earthly despise, evolving into muted screaming Fear, a lonely occasion of the past. There’s no time to think of fancy spoils - just thinking of how long this meal will last and little comes from any homeless toil Lost heart, broken shoulders - wishing for a fallen star like a princess from afar. Escaping from his mind’s enclosures, dreaming of convergence - far from choking existence. Never-ending sadness consumes those who have left reality. Selfish consumers dominate charity. Through all of this I can see what this broken man means to me - the truth is not what you see. Remember, remember to be free Crossed heart, broken shoulders - wishing for a fallen star like a princess from afar. Escaping from his mind’s enclosures, dreaming of convergence - far from choking existence.

Sirens 04:40
Hearts like ships, called by sirens - it’s always easy where the currents flow. Ignoring lights, discarded warnings - emotions in emotions throws. The moon dancing on the crests, sending scattered starlight flying - to mesmerize, to measure lies; there’s no returning. Hypnotic spell, myopic fate - neglect, reduce the bow to timber. We drown at such alarming rates - find our way beyond remember, remember We all get caught up in the light, we all get caught up in those grand deceptions: mistaking love, forsaking life - sirens Stars are laughing at the cracking of the masts, behind the veil of thunder. Committed to the water’s cold embrace - a desire for love that pulls them under She’ll draw you in and pull you down - every breath a symphony. The bells are ringing on the shore, to mark the death of you and me.

You picked me up when I had fallen - scolded and glazed. I was playing with the angels, lost is grace. As elementary as the signs were, I never thought that I’d always wait and anticipate dreams in which I know I’m not Go away, you’re like a comedown. Never here when I wake up. I’ll be here the moment you come round, ‘cus I’m here while you’re gone Now everything’s grown colder and I’m sober from you - it’s hard to go on, as time moves along. Reality is far from truth The roles may be reversed someday and turned around, that you might realize.

Reverence 06:00
My monsoon at sea. Wild wind wandering - blows breath into me. My snowfall kiss, phased to silent mist - adrift in me Mother Earth I pray. The elements you gift - seasons within me: forever night and day. Gaia you surround - natural reverie, compassion innate, destruction resounds My blazing blood - turbulent torrid torch. Illuminate through elimination. My abiotic home - chaotic chemical stone. Ecology, you ever sustain Awenasa I thank. Unwavering moonrise, eternal circle swell, oscillating tides. Gaia you surround - natural reverie, compassion innate, destruction resounds.

Aurora Eyes 04:36
You walked into my room and left with the door swinging. But still you stood, looking at my teary eyes - telling me that everything will be alright. You blasted through the front door threshold and bounded to my couch, with eyes shut and your mouth smiling wider than the ocean -a place you joked and said was your bed. Then I knew my home was anywhere you laid your head So let’s have one more cigarette - watch the embers float on the wind, along with all our regrets. Aurora eyes - you make the whole world shine Golden locks bouncing in the moonlight, bandana lighting up my life. Out of breath, laughing past the days. Watching the swallows soar. In each other’s arms, not asking for anything more.

Remember. Awakened by the end of life. All I forgot, remembered. Yesterday’s all burned away, tomorrow’s imagined. There’s humour in the tragedies that drive divine contraptions. Through muted atonement - a vision of forever. Separated by a moment - conjoined through the never I never thought I’d see the day - though sooner has it come to pass, that I would understand the love that stretches time to pierce the dark In the smallest moment a cog slips off its axis. The mechanisms grind down, putting pressure on the cracks on the course you set and laid out. The sights you saw so real - lying on your mattress. But the wheels are always turning. They turn and turn, but you don’t decide the deal (or do you?). Help you flourish and coalesce - interflow for our weary souls to fluoresce.

about

‘Divine Contraption’ was written in loving memory of our dear friend Marné Nicole Esson. The whole album was inspired by her life and untimely passing in March 2018.

The album itself is a proclamation of reverence that we as a band feel towards each other, the earth and the divine. It is also a strong testimony to our loved ones who have gone before us.

Proceeds from the album will go to ‘Sparrow’s Healing Foundation’ that was established in 2018 by her mother Lynette Esson in the Western Cape of South Africa.

The Esson family have always been very involved environmentalists and have dedicated their lives to animal rehabilitation. It was a shared dream of Lynette and Marné to one day open their own animal rehabilitation centre and with your help and donations, this dream can be sustained.

Thank you to those who have already donated and remember that every bit helps.
